U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped nearly a million dollars in cocaine from hitting Valley streets.
It happened at the B&M bridge on Thursday when officers found 30 pounds of cocaine inside two man made compartments on a late model Pontiac. The driver of the car is identified as a 22 year-old woman from Matamoros. She is in the custody of ICE agents and facing federal drug charges. At the Hidalgo/Reynosa bridge, agents seized about $147,000 dollars in cocaine on a Austin teenager walking back from Mexico. Officers grew suspicious of the teens computer bag he was carrying and found 4.5 pounds of cocaine in the bag.
