California mother accused microwaving her baby to death.
A Northern California mother is behind bars accused of killing her newborn baby by putting it in the microwave.
People are still trying to process what their young and quiet neighbor is accused of. Police say back in March, 29-year-old Ka Yang claimed she had a seizure and dropped her newborn on a heater.
Neighbor Margarita Leyva said she had a short conversation with Yang just yesterday. Authorities say Yang;s story didn't add up.
The arrest warrant obtain by KCRA-3 shows the little victim was found with 'serious 2nd, 3rd, and 4th degree burns from head to toe'.
The three month investigation eventually led to an expert in Ohio who worked on a similar case, who says "it's the pattern of the burns that you see in the case of a microwave that are different, than what you would see with a child burned with boiled water, tipping a pot off the stove."
Another doctor agreed, saying the burns were 'consistent with microwave burning'.
Laura Peck of the Sacramento Police department says "it's unique and its rare, you don't have to have children for this to be something that is horrific."
Yang is being held without bail, court documents say a pacifier left in the microwave was a key piece of evidence.
