Mexican Military Battles Drug Cartel in Matamoros, Mexico
Mexican soldiers seized a big cache of weapons after battling with drug cartel members in Matamoros, Mexico.
The Defense Department reports that three suspected gunmen were killed and three were captured in a massive fight on Wednesday. Soldiers seized 83 assault rifles and shotguns, hand grenades, five grenade launchers and more than 18,000 rounds of ammunition.
Pictures from the scene, released by the military, show some of the seized articles marked CDG the initials of the Gulf Drug Cartel. The military statement said gunmen in the 17 vehicle convoy opened fire on a military helicopter when it detected them in Matamoros.
