MEXICO CITY -  REUTERS is reporting that the US employees were police instructors and that the black SUV was mistaken for a kidnapper vehicle and Mexican Police fired on it by mistake.

Both US workers were hit and injured when they came under fire. The US Embassy in Mexico City is still checking reports and hasn't released any details.
