Men Arrested in Theft of Copper from Utility Poles

Three men were arrested for stealing copper from telephone substations, irrigation equipment and from rural homes.

Hidalgo County Sheriff deputies arrested Juan Cavazos, Gerardo De Leon and Saul Lopez on felony theft charges. The men used ladders to climb utility poles to cut the wires and retrieve the copper. Authorities report that all three men are criminal illegal immigrants and are searching for a fourth suspect in the crimes.
