AUSTIN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The Texas Gold Star Family's gathered on Saturday, May 25, to view the "Remembering Our Fallen" exhibit at the Bullock, Texas History Museum in Austin.
The exhibit honors the 600 fallen Texans in a new photo memorial for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice since the war on terror began.
The memorial measures 200 feet in length with an American flag backdrop and pictures of the fallen military in uniform as well as family pictures.
“These brave military men and women volunteered to ensure our freedoms, so on this Memorial Day weekend, we remember them,” said Donna Cranston, Founder and Executive Director of Defenders of Freedom. “Their memory will be taken to communities across Texas to ensure that everyone has the chance to learn a little about our bravest and remember their sacrifice.”
The memorial will travel across the state for two weeks to major cities as well as military bases and community events throughout the year.
