An alleged Mexican drug cartel member, Wilfred Padilla, appeared in the 197th District Court on Tuesday morning as defense and prosecutors prepared for the capital murder trial.

Cameras were not allowed inside the courtroom during the hearing which is the second time the defense has asked the judge to not allow any media inside the courtroom. Padilla is accused of hiring Marco Solis to murder Joann Chavez who was killed back in 2003. Chavez's remains were found in 2006 in Willacy county.
