Meat market thief leaves behind cell phone

A San Juan teenager is behind bars after leaving his cell phone at the scene of the crime.

Police arrested 18-year-old Jason Maldonado for robbing the Lucky 7 meat market in San Juan.

Maldonado confessed to the crime and was seen in a security video threatening an employee with a black pistol that turned out to be an airsoft gun.

Maldonado is affiliated with a local gang call the Los Peligrosos.

He is being charged with aggravated robbery and facing a $100,000 bond.

Of course, he cell phone made investigators' jobs a lot easier.

"Once we located the phone, we started going through it, we went to our suspect's Facebook application that he has in his phone, and it has his picture, his name, his address, and other information that led us to the general area of where he is at," San Juan Police Sgt. Rolando Garcia said.     

Police found the weapon used and the money taken in the robbery after a search of a home Maldonado was staying.
