McAllen woman sentenced to 50 years in prison in DWI deaths of family and passenger

BROWNSVILLE, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A McAllen woman has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for intoxication manslaughter after pleading guilty in a plea agreement in court.
On Thursday, April 10th Margaret Gil, 32, agreed to plead guilty to five counts of intoxication manslaughter in the death of four family members and her one passenger back in June 2013.
While driving her 2006 Toyota RAV 4 westbound on Hwy 100, Gil crossed the clearly-marked median lines and struck the 2013 Toyota Corolla head-on that killed Edward Gomez, 32; Erika Olaya Davila, 30; Jolexy Alvarez, 13; and Kamilla Isabel Gomez, 3. Also killed was Gil’s passenger Carmela Sanchez, 43, of Santa Rosa.
