"We believe the person in the yellow shirt is the one that actually discharged the firearm resulting in the death of one person," McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez said after an early morning shooting at the popular Gamehaus bar in McAllen.
24-year-old Daniel Avila is dead and 26-year-old Rene Garcia is in critical condition. Both are Edinburg residents who were at the wrong place at the wrong time.
A group of men were tossed out by management after an altercation inside.
Shortly after the group went outside, Avila and Garcia arrived.
"They're mad they were kicked out, knocking bikes over, a woman challenged them on that," Rodriguez said. "These two gentlemen arriving at the business around that time, began the natural inquiry, 'what's going on?' and that's when they got shot."
It started around 12:30 this morning. By 5:30 a.m., Israel Rocha was arrested in connection with the shooting. At about 10:30 a.m., Richard Arispe and Christopher Flores were arrested and found with ten pounds of illegal drugs. Flores is currently on probation for his role in a murder.
Police officials say the group of seven men helped each other before and after the shooting.
"We believe these people are right now on the run, that they're dangerous, and we'd like to be able to identify them as soon as possible so that we can hopefully bring them into custody," Rodriguez said.
