A McAllen Assistant Attorney General has been recognized by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott for her dedication to area children.

Norma Ortiz, an Assistant Attorney General in the Child Support Division’s McAllen office was named “Assistant Attorney General of the Year” for the Child Support Division’s McAllen region, which covers 13 counties.

Attorney General Abbott commented on her work stating, "Thanks to Norma Ortiz’s hard work and dedication, thousands of young Texans have the child support they need to grow healthy and strong. Norma is an outstanding lawyer and a tremendous asset to the Child Support Division. We are grateful to Norma for her commitment to Texas children.”

Ms. Ortiz has worked with the Office of the Attorney General for three years and represents the State of Texas in court establishing paternity cases between children of unmarried parents and their biological fathers.
