The City of McAllen is projected to be one of the top cities in the country for future job growth in 2014.

According to a recent Forbes article, McAllen is ranked as the second-best city in America for future job growth.  The article states a projected job growth of 3.7%.

The President & CEO of the McAllen EDC says this ranking is significant news for the city and the Valley as a whole.

"I think it leads us to the next phase of our development which is really to become more regional focused where we're all working together and recognizing that we're not competing with Brownsville or Harlingen or our surrounding communities," explained Keith Patridge.  "We're really, we really are competing with the rest of the world, and we're a world stage player now.

Another Valley city also made the Forbes list--Brownsville was ranked #10 as one of the best cities in the nation for job growth.

As for the city that ranked #1?  Austin, TX claims the top spot with a projected job growth of 4%.
