Communities in one Valley city are breathing easier as city officials demolish a sewer lift station.
The City of McAllen and the Public Utilities Board watched the lift station that operated for nearly 50 years be knocked down for good and welcomed an $11 million dollar sewer improvement project. The old lift station once sent raw waste to a local water treatment plant, but was plagued with problems over the years. According to PUB officials, this new development will end those problems and people who live around the area couldn't be happier.
As part of the new project, that took 4 years to complete, sewer lines were expanded making it easier to handle an increase in raw waste.
