As the City of McAllen gets ready for their big New Year's Bash, McAllen police will be increasing patrol numbers to keep citizens safe.

Police want to remind residents that fireworks are prohibited in the city limits and those caught with or using them could be fined up to $500 dollars. Also any use of a firearm is strictly prohibited and could lead to serious jail time. Police officers will be on foot and in patrol cars, heavily monitoring the downtown area.
