The McAllen Police Department don't want to forget their fallen officers.  The department held its annual memorial ceremony on Wednesday.

McAllen PD honored the three officers who had given their lives in the line of duty. Officers from all over the Valley showed up to lend their support. Also in attendance was McAllen's mayor and several city commissioners. The city has not had a death in the department for more than two decades.

"That's a challenge, every 3.4 minutes, we're sending one of our officers to God knows what they're going to meet," McAllen Mayor Jim Darling said. "So we appreciate that, I think that's the ultimate in public service is the public protection."

Many police departments are holding ceremonies as part of National Police Week.
