MCALLEN - McAllen police patrolled the streets during the New Year's festivities in downtown McAllen. They say it was relatively calm with one exception.

Jaime Armando Seleya, 41, was arrested after stabbing a man on the 1700 block of West Fresno.

Police said around 11:00 p.m. December 31st they received a call from the victim.

After arriving on scene, they found the victim stabbed in the lower back. Luckily his injuries were non-life threatening, but he still had to be taken to the hospital.

Police say this wasn't a random act of violence.

"These are two individuals, it is my understanding, they reside somewhere in that area together. They are known to each other, there was an argument and that resulted in one of the victims, resulting in the victim being stabbed," said Lt. Joel Morales, McAllen Police Department PIO.

Seleya's been charged with aggravated assault, a second degree felony. His bond is set at $75,000.
