McAllen Memorial Senior Signs Letter of Intent to West Point

McALLEN - On Monday at McAllen Memorial high school many students and faculty packed the library to see Senior Matthew Kaufmann traded in his blue and yellow school colors for the black and gold colors of the Army.

Kaufmann was signing his name to a letter of intent to play football and serve his country as a member of the Black Knights of the Army. The standout senior earned a list of athletic accolades during his four years at Memorial and now intends to the same at West Point. Kaufmann stated, "I fell in love with the atmosphere there. I know it's a big decision, big commitment, I just chose to do something that's challenging and that's something bigger than myself. You know, I'll be serving the country when I'm done, I just wanna help people out and make an impact in life." Matthew will be suiting up as quarterback for the Knight's.
