McALLEN - The new library is off to a great start since it's opened it's doors over five weeks ago/

The library stands as the largest single floor library in the United States and has seen a host of visitors from around the Valley utilizing all that it has to offer. Assistant Director of Public Services Kate Horan said, "We've had a really overwhelming response from the community to this new facility. From the time that we open to the time that we close, we see people using our computer lab browsing our books, downloading our e-books, being on their laptops or just sitting together and reading. We see a lot of parents reading with their children which is really great."

The library also has a state of the art self checkout system, a bookstore and a cafe.
