The McAllen ISD superintendent is back from a trip to the White House.

Dr. James Ponce was part of a group of school district officials to head to Washington to talk about classroom innovations.  McAllen ISD's 25,000 students have iPads and other Apple devices to help aid learning.

"It's exciting in one sense to know that things we take for granted in McAllen they're actually asking us and pointing out, 'you know in McAllen,' and you're sitting there with a seal that says United States, well, 'if you want to see, you go to McAllen,' that's kind of cool, that they're looking at us to lead," Ponce said.

This was the second year school district officials have been invited to the nation's capital.
