McAllen is offering incentives to Space X as it moves to a new location in Brownsville.

Space X last week announced a new launch platform in Brownsville.

The McAllen Economic Development Corporation wouldn't disclose the benefits of the incentives. It hopes the incentives will help bring to the area the manufacturers who make supplies for the satellites.

The EDC is now awaiting word on if Space X will accept the terms on the economic incentives.

"I think, it now signifies to the world that South Texas isn't just a desolate, agricultural community," McAllen EDC President Keith Patridge said. "That we really have something that a company like SpaceX says I'm willing to invest in."

Patridge also talked of other ways Space X can help the region, including tourism and engineering at the new UT-RGV.
