McAllen Crime Stoppers to host 'Viva McAllen Streets' event

McAllen Crime Stoppers is hosting a community event to promote healthy living and also to raise funds for their program.

On Saturday, McAllen Crime Stoppers will host their second annual 'Viva McAllen Streets' event.

The event is at the McAllen Convention Center and starts at 7 a.m. There will be a Run for Justice 10K run and walk. As well as three different cycling rides from 25 miles to 60 miles in length.

McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez, "We're really proud of them because they have been pushing us to produce new quality events for the citizens here in McAllen and really for all of South Texas, because we will have people here from South Texas and many points north of here that will be coming to enjoy this event."

The City of McAllen and the McAllen Transit and Traffic Departments are teaming up with McAllen police for the community event.

The event will also feature a cook off and cross fit team competitions.
