McAllen City Commission selects City Manager
MCALLEN, TX — The McAllen City Commission selects Interim City Manager Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, P.E. as the new City Manager. In April, Rodriguez was appointed interim city manager after City Manager Mike R. Perez announced his retirement.
As General Manager for the McAllen Public Utility, Rodriguez directed all operations for water and wastewater for the McAllen Public Utility and the City extraterritorial jurisdiction. He was also an Assistant City Manager for the City of McAllen overseeing the Engineering, Planning, Building Inspections, Informational Technology and Purchasing & Contracting departments.
Rodriguez previously worked as the City Engineer, Assistant City Manager and City Manager in Harlingen, Texas. He has 28 years of public service, with 20 of those years in local government.
Rodriguez has a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&I University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas Pan American.
