Man Steals Cash At Gunpoint In Donna
DONNA- A cash crime spree took place in one Upper Valley city Monday where a man hit up two stores and threatened the workers at gunpoint and took off with the cash. It was morning and the grind of the work week begins at Tortilleria 4 Estrellas off Business 83 in Donna. J
Jesus Pecina's day of work is interrupted by when an armed man storms into the shop points a gun and demands money.
"Un muchacho entro a robarme si con una arma ( a guy came in to rob me with a gun)," said Pecina.
Pecina said the thief stole $300 from him. Gracias Rocha experienced the same thing a short time later. Her husband owns Los Angeles Bakery off Highway 493 in South Donna and said she was helping a customer when an armed man came in wanting cash.
" I had a customer and the guy entered and wanted money and i thought he was joking," said Rocha.
According to police, Rocha provided them with a good description of the truck the robber was driving along with partial plate numbers and landed authorities to arrest two suspects at a house right off Rolando Street in south Donna. Police released a mug shot of the thief to us but wouldn't tell us his name just yet.
" We initiated a traffic stop and identified the occupants one of them was positively identified as the actual robber. so we are still working trying to verify his identity to the first victim. at this particular point he's been identified as the suspect from the second robbery," said Donna Police Chief Ruben De Leon.
Police have not said if the other man arrested had anything to do with the robberies yet. Sheriffs deputies along with Donna Police surround the graffiti marked home seizing the thief's weapon and the money he stole.
Sheriffs deputies continued to look over the bakery after the arrests were made and for Rocha, she continues her work day like if nothing happened...
" Yes..everything is fine now," said Rocha.
The man arrested is expected to be arraigned tomorrow.
