Law enforcement in Edcouch teamed up with other agencies to keep a man they deemed dangerous off the streets.
Ramiro Ruiz appeared before a judge on Wednesday to face aggravated assault charges. Police say the attack occurred in early August when Ruiz went to his ex-wife's home and cut himself and placed crossing of blood on his children's forehead. Officers say he did the same thing to his ex-wife and then attacked her and placed a knife to her throat. A few days later, Hidalgo county deputies picked him up on a separate attack of raping and beating his ex-wife. Edcouch police say they purposely waited to serve their warrant until Ruiz was ready for release.
The judge ordered Ruiz back to county jail on Wednesday to face the new charges and his bond was set at $150,000 dollars.
