Man Indicted in Stem Cell Scheme
BROWNSVILLE - A man and two other individuals have been named in an indictment in a stem cell scheme.
The indictment states that Francisco Morales falsely claimed he was a licensed doctor and that he would take patients from the United States to Mexico to perform stem cell procedures. The stem cells Morales used were manufactured from umbilical cord blood obtained from birth mothers at a maternity clinic in Del Rio which was not FDA approved.
The indictment adds that the public was misled into believing these stem cells were approved by the FDA to treat cancer, ALS, MS and Parkinson disease.
