Man Charged with Criminal Negligent Homicide

Andrew Barrera, 20, has been charged with criminal negligent homicide after police say he drove wrecklessly and caused a collision that resulted with one man dead. Jorge Hurtado,31, was driving his motorcycle down Dockberry Road near Jaime Circle when police say Barrera passed up a vehicle and got in the motorcyclist's way. Police say Hurtado impacted the pick up truck that Barrera was driving and died instatnly. Hurtado had been working for the City of Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department for at least the past five years.
