Brownsville police are looking for a person of interest involved in a theft case. It happened a week ago at the Home Depot near the four corners area

Investigators say the man found an abandon purse in the parking lot in a shopping cart. He took the purse in to a customer service rep, but seconds before handing it over noticed a thick bundle of cash in the purse and subtly swiped it, dropping it into his shopping cart.

This was all caught on surveillance camera.

"In the video you can tell where the person is trying to push the cart away from the view of the customer service reps, obviously it was something of value because then you also notice where he reaches over for some flyers and covers what he dropped into the shopping cart,” said Eddie Garcia of the Brownsville Police Department.

Security cameras did catch another image of the man leaving the hardware store in his pick up truck. Investigators say he drives a white four door Ford truck with running boards, chrome rims and chrome side view mirrors.
