Man Behind Bars from Hit and Run

A man is behind bars after crashing and then fleeing the area.

According to Harlingen police, 47 year-old Martin Gonzalez Camacho who was driving a blue Nissan failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign of Matz and Rose in Harlingen. It crashed into a Chevy Aveo and the driver of the Aveo told police Camacho abandoned his vehicle and ran off.

Police say he hid at a friends house who lived nearby and officers arrested Camacho less than an hour after the collision. Camacho was arrested and charged with a accident involving injury or death and failure to stop and yield at a stop sign. His bond is set at $5,139 dollars.
