Man arrested for tranporting a quarter ton of marijuana.

A man is behind bars after officers find a quarter ton of marijuana in his SUV.

Sheriff deputies spotted a red Tahoe driving recklessly on Port Isabel road and FM 511 on Monday. Officers pulled the truck over and approached the driver and noticed some bags in the back section of the SUV. When deputies asked the driver if he was going on a trip, the driver answered him no.

Deputies arrested 34 year-old Alejandro Almaguer with 558 pounds of marijuana and charged him with possession and could face up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $10,000 dollars.
