Man arrested after threatening to kill ex-wife and judge
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A disgruntled ex-husband was arrested after threatening to kill his ex-wife and a State District judge outside the Cameron County Courthouse.
On Wednesday, September 11th, Luis Manuel Lopez, 41, had been in civil court in State District Judge Federico Hinojosa's courtroom.
The ex-wife reported to police that after the court proceedings, a disgruntled Lopez threatened to kill her and Judge Hinojosa.
Lopez was apprehended in the courthouse parking lot, after a short pursuit, with a loaded 9mm handgun and now faces an attempted capital murder charge.
Lopez was charged with attempted capital murder, attempted murder, two counts of obstruction or retaliation, two counts of terroristic threat, unlawful carrying of a weapon and reckless driving with his bond set at over $1.8 million.
