Man, arrested in 8-liner raid, assaults informant as retaliation
HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Harlingen police arrested a man for assaulting a woman, in retaliation, for her providing information to authorities in a eight-liner raid.
In the late evening of Sunday, July 28th a woman reported an assault that occurred after a man broke into her home.
The woman identified the man as Enrique Moya, 38, who she had dated in the past, and stated he drove up to her residence as she was standing outside.
The victim retreated back into her home and attempted to lock the front door, but Moya forced himself inside. The woman ran back into her bedroom, locking the door, but again Moya forced himself into the room by kicking the door down.
During the assault, Moya grabbed the victim's hair, pulled her down onto the ground, and struck the victim in the face with his elbow. As the assault continued the victim attempted to call 911, but Moya grabbed the cell phone and then left the premises.
It was noted, by the victim, that she and her 2 year-old child were able to lock themselves inside the bathroom until Moya left.
On Monday, July 29th officers located and arrested Moya at a residence in Brownsville. He has been charged with burglary of a habitation, interference with emergency call, retaliation and accessed a bond of over $1 million dollars.
Moya was arrested back in June for gambling promotion from an anonymous call made about a possible hostage situation.
