SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — It was a dream come true for a Houston boy who wanted to be a pirate, as part of Make-A-Wish.
Newscenter 23 reporter Matt Fernandez was on South Padre Island as a three year old lymphoma patient claimed his treasure.
This is 3 year old Gethin Rutter, his wish, to be a pirate.
Gethin started his big day off learning some pirate tricks, which he mastered.
The adventure officially began as they hopped on board, with
the whole Rutter family taking a picture with the pirates.
As the boat set sail Gethin and the youngsters fought it out with water guns.
Then it was time for the real pirate stuff, finding the treasure!
The treasure was spotted and the pirates reeled in their booty.
Gethin opened up the chest to see what was inside.
At the end Gethin and kids were named honorary pirates.
