Major San Juan Drug Bust Arrest

SAN JUAN- Police netting nearly $6.7 million worth of marijuana after an arrest Thursday night, the biggest bust for the department to date and a major loss for the drug cartels.
According to police, Saul Briseno Rodriguez, 25, tried to make an escape from police Thursday night as he was transporting over a thousand pounds of marijuana in this van for the drug cartels, but his fate ended up police transporting him to the slammer.
Police tried to stop Rodriguez and another man in the van off East Eldora Rd, Thursday but they refused and police ended up chasing Rodriguez on foot while the other got away. Later police issued a search warrant at Rodriguez's home at 2507 Hibiscus in San Juan and found even more drugs. Soon after police departments from San Juan and Pharr learned that more drugs were held at a warehouse off Cesar Chavez Road and confiscated it.
"It was 8,384 pounds that was confiscated by both agencies which makes it the largest by this agency," said Chief Juan Gonzalez from San Juan Police. "It's a significance for us because hopefully this drug seizer it was a blow for the drug cartels that are trying to move so much drugs for this area."
Police said they expect more arrest for the days to come. Even though Rodriguez is caught and so are the drugs, Police are taking action for any retaliation from the cartels for loosing so much money.
" We know the violence that they are capable of doing so we are taking certain precautions as well and measures and make sure the immediate family are not in danger knowing they were not involved in this incident," said Gonzalez.
Rodriguez has five charges against him and his bond totals to $230,000.
