LULAC Unhappey with Redistricting Map Decision

Friday, March 2, 2012 - 10:40am

The election date and the newly revised Texas redistricting maps must get a final approval from a federal court in Washington, but some minority groups, including LULAC, claim the maps are still unfair .

LULAC and the NAACP continue to claim the new map, agreed on by a three judge panel in San Antonio, unfairly dilute minority voting power and are not compliant with the federal voting rights act. If this view is confirmed by a Washington court there is a chance that the Texas Primary date of May 29th could be pushed back further into late June.
