Locals do their last minute Christmas shopping
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — If you're one of those people who prefers to avoid the Black Friday rush, there's a chance you could be one of the many getting your last minute Christmas shopping done right now.
"You know, there has been a significant increase in traffic, beginning since Black Friday, all the way until now you know, it's a very steady flow in traffic," said Valle Vista Mall assistant marketing director Osmara Perez.
And because it's the last possible day to get shopping done before Christmas, many shoppers at Valle Vista Mall and Sunrise Mall are pressed for time.
"Well there are a lot of people with their jobs, they don't have the time necessarily to come out and shop during Black Friday, um, and then there's also the factor that there's sales that continue after Black Friday, and so I think shoppers take advantage of the sales after the season as well," said Perez.
And when we asked shoppers what caused their shopping delays, they said just that.
"I actually work right now so I have two hours left to shop," said Sunrise Mall shopper Iliana Herrera.
"Actually I've been working really hard and making money and now that it's pretty close to Christmas, I'm just here shopping with my friend you know," said Sunrise mall shopper Emmanuel Bravo.
"I didn't have time," said Sunrise mall shopper Darcy Vuelales. "I'm trying to go to school and get money to get these gifts."
"We don't really have a lot of time," said Sunrise mall shopper Irvin Gonzalez. "Not, not a lot of time, but we're...we're hard workers."
And if you're hoping the crowds will die down at this time next year, think again.
"Like I said, it's a steady flow of traffic," said Perez. "It's constantly the same within our shoppers."
