Zoo animals can also be affected by this strong weather, but the Gladys Porter Zoo is ready.
Safety for the animals comes first. Zoo spokesperson, Charlie Abrego says, because most of the exhibits are made out of concrete and steel, the zoo is very secure. All mammals will be put in night houses and reptiles will be put in securely locked holding cages of plastic bags. He says this zoo is prepared for the storm. The zoo's biggest concern is the birds, especially Flamingos because they are the most exposed.
Charlie says, Flamingos will be placed in the men's restroom, to wait out the storm.
