The first to feel the effects of the storm are the people out on South Padre Island.
We take a look at what people are doing to get out of the way of the storm. Kim Bridger has worked storms in the Rio Grande Valley for years and she's here to tell more about what's happening on the island.
Al Benavides lives in Harlingen with his son, but is planning to pack up and leave early Tuesday morning. The order to leave applies only to R'vers at this point. Right now the city of South Padre Island is watching the forecast very closely. If it looks like Dolly might strengthen beyond category 2, it'll be time to talk about evacuating everyone off the island.
Leroy Taylor and his wife didn't expect this, but it's time to begin packing up their R.V. and heading to safer ground. The Taylor's travel to different places every summer and no doubt they love the island, but the county has given them until 5pm Tuesday to leave. All R'vers on the island were put on notice late Monday.
