A local city left with less than half of its firefighters. This is happening in Mission where the city is requiring all volunteer firefighters get their state certification.
City officials say there are about 30 volunteer firefighters who must become accredited by the Texas Commission of Fire Protection in order to continue fighting fires.
They will need to take mandatory classes to become certified which would take a few months to complete. At this point Mission firefighters say citizens should not be alarmed, there will be enough certified firefighters to continue to serve and save.
