Fallen Soldiers Family Speaks to NewsCenter 23

A Valley soldier, tragically killed, in the line of duty, Army Specialist, Alex Gonzalez died during a rocket ambush, while fighting for his country in Iraq.

Family and friends of 21 year-old, Mission native, Alex Gonzalez say, what they'll remember most is his, sense of humor, love for people, and courageous ways.

His pick-up truck sits motionless in the driveway, his eagle football helmet rests on a shelf, all these visually, remind the Gonzalez's of their son. His father, Alfredo, also served in the army, both he and his wife, Idalia, say they couldn't be prouder of their first-born.

His folks say, they know Alex was fighting for what he believed in, but they still can't understand, his un-expected death. A life, which will be truly missed by friends and family who say, their hearts feel ripped in two. Finding peace, in this tragic war story, they say, will be tough, but an end to the violence overseas, is what they feel the country should now be fighting for now.

The family tell us, Gonzalez had dreams of becoming a police officer someday, He is one of 28 Valley soldiers to die, while serving in Iraq. Funeral arrangements have still not been set yet and still, no word yet on when his body, will return to the states.
