Economy Stimulus Checks Starts Today

By Mark Nino

Today is payday for millions of Americans, the first of the new tax rebate checks began showing up in direct deposit accounts this morning.

The IRS will begin mailing paper checks by the end of the week, but that money may be going somewhere different than originally planned. The original plan for the $152 billion dollars in rebates was to give consumers a little extra spending money on computers, big screen TVs, maybe furniture or jewelry and in turn provide a booster for businesses at the cash register.

Many retailers, even grocery stores are offering an added bonus of up to 10% to shoppers who cash in their stimulus checks at their businesses.
