Most college students spend their Spring Breaks, partying at the beach, but a group of college kids are doing something different, their giving back to the community.
Most Spring Breakers, are too busy working on their tans, or recovering from a long night out at the bars, but a group of hard-working students, from the University of Texas Brownsville, decided to wake up early, to help build homes.
The past couple of days have been filled with painting, hammering, and construction work for students from UTB's Civic Engagement Center. They lent their helping hands to build, three different homes which are being built by the Community Development Corporation of Brownsville. These homes are all located off of FM802, the the Inwood subdivision.
Community home builders say, it was nice to have some of the work load taken off their hands. UTB's Civic Engagement Center's mission is to help provide social justice throughout the community. Their next major project will take place in April on Make a Difference Day.
