Valley shelters that will be open to the public.

Here are some local shelters that will be open for those who are seeking shelter from the cold weather.

In Brownsville, the Ozanam Center, which is located at 656 N. Minnesota Avenue, will be open and for more information please call 956.831.6331.

In Harlingen, the Loaves and Fishes shelter, located at South E street will be open or call 956.423.1014.

In Port Isabel, the Port Isabel police department will offer shelter at the courthouse located at 110 Hickman St. from Thursday 6 p.m. through Sunday morning. Residents are asked to bring identification and their own blankets and pillows. For more information call 956.943.1242.

The McAllen Salvation Army will offer beds, blankets and even meals for those who are staying at the shelter. It is located on the 1600 block of north 23rd street and for more information call 956.682.1468.

In Mercedes the Cities Civic Center will be used as a shelter which is located at 520 Chapman Avenue and will stay open till Friday.

In Santa Rosa, the youth center located on 513 FM 506, next to the country park, are asking people to bring their own pillows and blankets. For more information please call City Hall at 956.636.1113.
