LAGUNA VISTA, Texas - A UTRGV health clinic at Laguna Vista officially opened.
This is a project the town has been working on for over a year.
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley has committed to maintain the health clinic for a minimum of five years.
The Laguna Vista city manager and residents believe it is a win-win for the community.
“Well we’ve got a lot of winter Texans especially and a lot of older people that are here like myself and I think it’s going to be a great asset for us,” said Laguna Vista resident Anna Backues.
“It’s going to save the residents of Laguna Vista the trouble of driving either to Harlingen or Brownsville or away from our area for treatment,” she said.
The Community Development Corporation will reimburse UTRGV $6,000 quarterly during the first year of the lease, and $7,500 quarterly during the second and third years.
The clinic is located on 723 Santa Isabel Blvd.
