PADRE ISLAND, Texas - For the first time in 20 years the cost of entry into the Padre Island National Seashore in Corpus Christi will be going up.
Beginning June 1 fees will double and in some cases triple. Currently annual passes are priced at $20. The price will increase to $40 on the first of the month.
The National Parks System has more than 130,000 acres that is used for everything from camping to fishing and sunbathing. The 70 miles of beaches are undeveloped and are considered the rarest of outdoors gems in the world.
