Brownsville, TX - Leadership Brownsville Class 33, is raising funds through the Shine a Light campaign to benefit two non-profits; Friendship of Women and Good Neighbor Settlement House. The campaign funds raised for Friendship of Women, a protective shelter for women and children victims of domestic abuse, would assist with the construction of an outdoor pavilion and playground equipment for children. The campaign would also help Good Neighbor Settlement House update and install lighting for the homeless and low income center. According to the donation page, the purchase and installation of four outdoor lights on premises has an estimated cost of $4,000. Friendship of Women's Executive Director Gloria Ocampo estimates the cost of playground materials, installation of approved American with Disabilities Act (ADA) materials at roughly $10,000.
