2018 Memorial Day Services at Texas State Veterans Cemeteries

Volunteers Needed to Help Lay Flags at Graves

AUSTIN - Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board Commissioner George P. Bush is encouraging Texans across the state to commemorate Memorial Day at one of the four Texas State Veterans Cemeteries statewide. Volunteers are also needed to lay flags at the each of the headstones prior to the services.

"Memorial Day is a time to remember those men and women who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Service with honor and distinction," said Commissioner Bush. "Texas State Veterans Cemeteries are hallowed grounds that express our respect for those who served, but also provide solace and serenity for the family members and friends that are still living. We would also like to encourage members of the community to assist with placing flags on each grave at all cemeteries in preparation for Memorial Day."
