Local Authorities Launch a Partnership in La Joya
Border Patrol, The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Dept. and teh city of La Joya have united. Vowing to end the criminal activity the area once and for all.
"The reason these things occur, is because we haven't united together and put a stop to it," said Chief Border Patrol Agent Rosendo Hinojosa. "Today the message to the criminal operators are.. today is your last day."
A permanent communication center was placed off of Military Rd. in hopes of working closer with the community and helping the struggling area.
"Our goal obviously is to make the city of La Joya, Havana, Sullivan City, Penitas a much safer place for people to live, work, study and play," said Sheriff Lupe Trevino. "We just need to put a stop to it."
The help couldn't have come at a better time. The city of La Joya needs help more than ever. The Police department is still struggling to find a new Chief and the area is still plagued with drugs and illegal activity.
