The man convicted of killing a Winter Texan couple 25 years ago will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Arturo Almaguer was given two consecutive life sentences for his role in the murder of Evan and Wilda Squires.

The crime happened at the Magic Valley RV park in Weslaco in 1988. It wasn't until 2011 when he was caught in Michigan for a separate crime. Police there drew his blood and it matched DNA found in the Victims' mobile home.

"Closure isn't a term we like to use, but it brings closure just a little closer," said William Lawrence Jury, the son of one of the victims. "We've been waiting 25 years for this day, and it's come and we feel like a tremendous weight has been lifted from our shoulders."

Almaguer has filed for an appeal of the conviction.
