Law Enforcement Reminding Drivers of Driving Drunk

News
Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 11:08am

The message is simple, Drink, Drive, go to jail and with holiday parties nearing, law enforcement agencies, TxDOT, TABC and Mothers Against Drunk Driving are reminding the public about the dangers and consequences of getting behind the wheel drunk.

At an event on Friday, the public was alerted of the holiday campaign and a specially designed vehicle was on hand to remind drivers that they have a choice, take a cab, designate a driver or end up in the back seat of a police car. Statistics show almost half of all traffic fatalities involve alcohol.

Extra enforcement will be on the highways looking for drunk drivers until the New Year and those caught drinking and driving could face a fine of up to $2,000 dollars and jail time.
