Valley law enforcement agencies were in Washington D.C. to speak with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano about the border spillover violence.

Brownsville Police Chief Carlos Garcia and Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino met with the Secretary for about an hour. Police Chief Garcia stressed that Brownsville and this side of the border are not as bad as people say it is, despite the ongoing violence in Mexico. Chief Garcia said despite only isolated incidents of spillover violence he wants continual help from the federal government.

Chief Garcia says law enforcement departments in the Valley will continue to use state and federal dollar to keep our border safe.
